PMC objects Advani’s public rally at Sapre ground

Raipur, October 18, 2011

The Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) has objected selection of Madhav Rao Sapre School ground for proposed public rally of BJP’s veteran leader LK Advani during his Jan Chenta Yatra (anti-corruption yatra) on October 22.
The PMC leaders led by their newly appointed state president Ambika Markam on Tuesday reached Sapre School ground and expressed their objection before the BJP leaders who were engaged in preparation of the rally. The BJP government is not at all serious in following the directives of Supreme Court which says that that the sports grounds should be given only for sporting events and not for other programmes, said the PMC leaders.
“Where will the players go when the sports grounds would be occupied for other purposes? The BJP, being the ruling party, has always been apathetic towards the problems of sports persons and now it is not even sparing the sports grounds,” said the PMC leaders.
They alleged that the BJP selected Sapre School without taking consent of Raipur Municipal Corporation. “The BJP is misusing its powers. First, it forcible organised public rally for its national president Nitin Gadkari in spite of our strong protest and now it is turn of Advani rally,” the PMC leaders said.
They warned of launching aggressive protest movement if Advani’s proposed public rally would not be shifted to other venue from Sapre School ground.
