Govt protecting black marketeers: Jogi

Raipur, October 10, 2011

Senior Congress leader and legislator Ajit Jogi on Monday slammed the government for failing to curb black marketing and adulteration in the state.
“In fact, the Chief Minister Raman Singh-led BJP government is protecting black marketeers and businessmen involved in adulteration and consequently the prices of essential commodities have shot up and the common mass is compelled to consume sub-standard food materials,” Jogi said.
He pointed that the BJP government had not taken any action against any black marketer or adulterators during its seven years of regime. “It is an irony that the government did not get any apparent evidence against any adulterator in spite of collecting samples of food stuffs from their shops,” he said.
He further criticised the government for not posing stern face towards the businessmen who do not follow its instructions.
“During Congress regime in the state, the fair price shop owners had been strictly asked to put the rates of all the items in from of their shops. Similarly, the stockists had also been instructed to provide information about the current stock of the commodities in their godowns. But the BJP government has not taken any such initiative in favor of the people by far. This indicates nexus between the government and the black marketeers and adulterators,” Jogi charged.
