About 43064 Congress workers staged court arrest in three days, i.e. on April 30 – the concluding day of the party’s vada nibhao fortnight and May 1 and 2 dharna programme and jail bharo andolan.
The chief PCC spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi informed that about 9871 workers staged court arrest during party’s April 30 public rally which was prominently attended by AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant, PCC president Nandkumar Patel, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, AICC secretary and state Congress secretary incharge Bhakt Charandas, senior party leader Vidya Charan Shukla and former CM Ajit Jogi.
On May 1, the party’s vada nibhao fortnight turned into vada nibhao abhiyan (VNA) and on the same day the Congmen staged dharna and court arrest in 70 Assembly areas. On the occasion, about 29453 workers staged court arrest, claimed Trivedi.
While on party’s May 2 dharna and jail bharo andolan, about 3760 workers staged court arrest, he said.
He said the vada nibhao fortnight was a major success as the party organised 51 public rallies during the period and over one lakh workers including local villagers participated in them.
Notably, Congress had formed four teams to smoothly organise public rallies during the fortnight. The teams were led by – Nandkumar Patel for western region of the state, Ravindra Choubey for eastern region, Arvind Netam and Satyanarayan Sharma for southern region and Rampukar Singh for northern region.
Trivedi informed that now the party was enthusiastically preparing for public rally under its first VNA at Patan Assembly area to be organised on May 13. After Patan, the party will organise rally under VNA at Kharsiya, Saja and Bemetara, informed Trivedi. The dates for these three places will soon be finalised by state unit president, he added.
