Will now hold public meeting under vada nibhao abhiyan in the region on May 15
Congress has changed date of its first Vidhan Sabha-level public rally and jail bharo andolan under vada nibhao abhiyan (VNA) at Patan from earlier scheduled May 13 to May 15. The decision was taken by the party during its May 8 meeting which was chaired by the AICC general secretary and state unit incharge BK Hariprasada.
According to information, Hariprasada has hectic schedule till May 14. Hence, the party extended the Patan rally date by two days.
“Neither Hariprasada nor PCC president Nandkumar Patel wants to break the rhythm of the party which was set on April 16 with the commencement of vada nibhao fortnight. The party leadership is elated by the response Congress received in during the fortnight and therefore it wanted to take opportunity of the first VNA to bring all the factions at one platform. Patel knows that it will only happen when Hariprasada will attend the Patan rally,” said Sources.
Besides Hariprasada and Patel, the rally will be participated Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant, AICC secretary, state unit incharge secretary Bhakt Charandas and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
In addition, the party has invited senior leaders, PCC office-bearers, MLAs and former MLAs to participate in the rally.
The party chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi informed that the PCC general secretaries Bhupesh Baghel and Subhash Sharma, who is also incharge general secretary of Durg Lok Sabha, have already conducted meeting of local leaders at Selud (Patan).
Both Baghel and Sharma have also issued directives to the local leaders to intensify preparations for VNA and ensure gathering of massive crowd for dharna and jail bharo andolan.
The Congress claims that about 43064 of its workers had staged court arrest during concluding day of its vada nibhao fortnight on April 30 and on May 1 and 2 dharna programme and jail bharo andolan. The party hopes to have successful start of VNA with large number of workers staging court arrest.
