Former chief minister Ajit Jogi has hailed
Congress-led UPA government’s decision of doubling ration allocation for APL
and BPL families. “The Centre’s decision is certainly give relief to the
financially weaker section of the society,” said Jogi.
He praised the UPA bringing Food Security Bill and
termed it a revolutionary decision that would produce anticipated outcome in
coming years.
He also appreciated the Centre for increasing the minimum
support price (MSP) on oilseeds and pulses.
“The Centre is making all efforts to extend its help
to the farmers by frequently hiking the MSPs of food grains. It has also hiked
the MSP of paddy and is taking paddy from the states including Chhattisgarh at
the rate of Rs 2200 per quintal,” he said.
“Besides, the provision of rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene
and domestic LPG to the poor under public distribution system (PDS) is the
Centre’s scheme. However, the ruling state government is claiming all the Central
schemes as its own and misleading people,” he alleged.
He pointed that recent incident of Patan development
block (Durg district) where about stock of 200 quintal rice from fair price
shops was found less.
“The huge amount of rice was take out from the fair
price shops by the PDS contractors who have nexus with the BJP,” he alleged and
said the government should quickly take measures to check such incidents and
ensure the poor get benefit of the schemes launched for them.
