Cong gears up for vada nibhao abhiyan at Patan

Congress has started preparations for first Vidhan Sabha-level public rally and jail bharo andolan under its vada nibhao abhiyan (VNA) slated to be held at Patan on May 13. In this connection, party general secretaries Bhupesh Baghel and Subhash Sharma who is also incharge general secretary of Durg Lok Sabha convened a workers’ meeting at Selud (Patan) on Saturday.
The party chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi informed that the duo issued directives to the workers to intensify preparatory works for VNA and ensure gathering of massive crowd for dharna and jail bharo andolan.
He informed that the workers of Patan Vidhan Sabha were invited during the concluding programme of party’s vada nibhao fortnight at Raipur on April 30, however, they urged PCC president Nandkumar Patel to allow them to organise similar programme in their region under VNA.
The VNA at Patan will be participated by Patel, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, senior party leaders, PCC office-bearers, MLAs and former MLAs.
The party has not yet announced its forthcoming programmes under VNA except the Patan event. According to information, the party would prepare list of areas for VNA during May 7 meeting which will be convened by AICC general secretary and state unit incharge BK Hariprasada.
As Congress has decided to raise all the burning issues under VNA, sources informed that Patel is attempting to bring national leaders to organise another massive programme at Raipur before monsoon session of the state Assembly.
The party plans to frustrate the government by organising continuous movements against it at district, Vidhan Sabha and state levels. Thereafter, the party will gherao the ruling BJP at Assembly.
According to information, party’s national general secretary Rahul Gandhi is also likely arrive in the state capital in coming months to blow the bugle for 2013 battle.
