Chhattisgarh wind in favour of Congress: Vora

Raipur, May 16, 2012

The wind blowing presently in Chhattisgarh is in favour of Congress and hence the workers should grab the opportunity and help the party win the next Assembly elections. The AICC treasurer Motilal Vora expressed these words while inaugurating three-day state-level training camp of Congress at Rajkumar College (RKC) premises on Wednesday.
“Unity is must to get success. Besides, the party should expose the weakness of the government,” he said.
Terming the training camp significant for all-round development of the party, he said the result of the camp would be long-lasting and help the party in fighting next polls with vigour and enthusiasm. “Therefore, the participants should take the camp seriously and disseminate the acquired knowledge to the workers,” he added.
He appealed to DCC and BCC presidents to get conversant with the party’s history, policies, vision and mission through camp.
“The actual responsibility of the polls lies in hands of DCC and BCC presidents who in turn take support of the booth-level workers to shift winning equilibrium towards the party,” he said.
“The camp participants should also diffuse the party’s initiatives that brought sea change in country’s development. The workers should know that it is Congress which launched MNREGA with an objective to give job to poor and check migration,” he added.
He said the Congress workers were alert and merely required encouragement. He informed how the national leadership conducted survey under AK Anthony committee about the reasons of the party’s downfall in different states.
“Later, the AICC discussed over the Anthony report and found that the party weakened in only those regions where candidate selection was not done properly and booth-level areas were ignored,” he said.
He claimed that there was no difference in the state unit. “There can be difference of opinions but we are united,” he said.
The PCC president Nandkumar Patel said the BJP was scared of Congress unity. “Our effort is to train our DCC and BCC participants so that they could motivate the workers at ground level,” he said.
He said that the Congress had played role of responsible opposition by sticking to its ideology and commitment. Terming the ruling party as corrupt and anti-people he said the party’s biggest responsibility and challenge would be to win next Vidhan Sabha elections.
“We have raised almost all the burning issues and grilled the ruling BJP frequently through dharna, protests and rallies. We have also succeeded in compelling the government to retreat and meet our demands,” he said.
On AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s arrival, he said, “Gandhi is coming to foster organisational activities and to guide our DCC and BCC presidents as well as YC and NSUI members.”
He too reiterated that factionalism did not exist in the party and it were opponents of the Congress who were engaged in its negative publicity.
The prominent party leaders present during inauguration programme of the camp were – AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada, AICC secretary and state unit incharge secretary Bhakt Charandas, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, senior leader Vidya Charan Shukla, MLA Ajit Jogi, tribal leader Arvind Netam and former CLP leader Mahendra Karma. Besides, party MLAs, former MLAs, PCC office-bearers and large number of workers were also present on the occasion.
