Jogi demands rollback of hiked power tariff

Raipur, May 08, 2012

Former chief minister Ajit Jogi has demanded instant rollback of hiked power tariff. “The government is deceiving people of Chhattisgarh. First, it claims that Chhattisgarh state is a power surplus state. Then it increases power tariff. This is contradictory and it should take decision in favour of the people,” said Jogi on Tuesday.
He appealed to the people to dethrone the ruling BJP in next Vidhan Sabha elections. He further alleged that the government sells power to the other states illegally while people in Chhattisgarh face frequent power cuts, especially in rural pockets.
He claimed that the government was not even providing free electricity for up to five HP pumps for irrigation as promised. The poor, whom the then Congress government had given single-point power connection, are also receiving heavy bills.
He said the Congress would launch massive agitation if the government would not rollback the hiked power tariff.
