Five wards facing acute water crisis

Raipur, May 23, 2012

Municipal’s five wards – Devendra Nagar, Pandri, Fafadih, Civil Lines and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose are facing acute water crisis in this summer.
Taking serious note on rising public complaints regarding less or no water supply from the overhead tanks at Devendra Nagar and Bairon Bazar, the RMC speaker Sanjay Shrivastava on Wednesday summoned municipal’s water resources department executive engineer AK Malwe and directed him to ensure adequate water supply in all the areas.
Shrivastava said the five wards usually face water crisis every summer but the municipal was not taking any measures to improve the situation. He said at least the Devendra Nagar and Bairon Bazar overhead tanks should be filled regularly to provide municipal water to the ward residents on daily basis.
Besides, he said, water tankers should also be ferried in the wards. He asked Malwe to himself monitor the water supply process in the five wards.
He further instructed Malwe to repair all the pipelines in the five wards including the pipelines linking the Devendra Nagar and Bairon Bazar overhead tanks.
