YC observes Swabhiman Diwas

Raipur, May 22, 2012

With Congress-led UPA government completing three eight at Centre, the members of Youth Congress (YC) on Tuesday observed Swabhiman Diwas. On the occasion, they distributed sweets and informed public about UPA’s eight-year achievements through placards.
Enumerating the list of schemes launched by the UPA government for public, the YC’s Raipur North general secretary Dilip Singh Chouhan said it started MNREGA to create employment opportunities in rural pockets, expanded road networks in remote areas and commenced star card schemes to provide free health treatment to poor up to Rs 30000.
“Besides, the UPA is providing food grains to poor at low rate but unfortunately the Chhattisgarh government is claiming the scheme as its own,” Chouhan said.
“The UPA also gave big relief to the farmers by increasing paddy bonus, i.e. Rs 600 per quintal in last eight years as against only Rs 60 per quintal hike in six years by the then NDA government at Centre,” he said.
On the occasion, Chouhan was accompanied by Sheikh Shakeel, NSUI state president Devendra Yadav, Nikhil Dwivedi, Mohammad Azhar, Akash Sharma, Bablu Raza, Shahrukh, Anil Yadav, Wasim Quasif, etc.
