National policy on abduction not possible: Patel

Raipur, May 07, 2012

Reacting on Chief Minister Raman Singh’s statement that national policy should be framed on abduction, PCC president Nandkumar Patel has said that it was not possible as abduction cases are state affairs.
“If abduction cases are happening in the state then what will the Centre do? Kidnapping solely the state’s affair and it has to deal it by its own,” said Patel.
“The recent kidnapping in Ambikapur and Bhilai and abduction of Sukma Collector are glairing incidents of government’s failure to maintain law and order. Similarly, about 10000 girls are missing from north Chhattisgarh but the government has not taken any initiative to find them by far. Now these matters cannot be shifted to the Centre,” he said.
He ridiculed the CM for tossing the idea of making national policy on abduction and said if he was really concerned of internal security then why he was opposing implementation of National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
On CM’s remark that – ‘there should be no dialogue with the Maoists even if the chief minister is abducted’, Patel said either the CM was in dilemma or scared of being kidnapped.
He alleged that the CM was trying to create fearful atmosphere in the state by talking hypothetical circumstances like his own abduction. “If the CM himself is not sure of his security then how would he assure the people of Chhattisgarh that they are secure,” Patel said.
