No water at rly station, YC submits memo to DRM

Raipur, May 1, 2012

Alleging that water supply remain disrupted at Raipur railway station during summer season and consequently passengers are compelled to buy bottled water, the general secretary of Youth Congress (YC) Raipur Rural Vipin Mishra and other members demanded from Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) to ensure water supply in all the platforms including the water coolers round the clock.
In this connection, the YC members also submitted a memorandum to DRM and warned him of gheraoing his office if the water crisis continues at the railway station.
“It has become a common scene at the railway station during summer. You will not only find water coolers malfunctioning with soaring mercury but even the normal water not being supplied through taps in all the platforms,” said Mishra after meeting the DRM.
He alleged that the relevant Railway officials and employees deliberately disrupt water supply of the station because they have nexus with vendors who sell bottled waters.
“You will see the bottled water sale suddenly shoots up in March with increasing temperature. The sale remains high till June end. Whenever the passengers demand cold water, they have to shell out extra bucks for that. All these things are happening every year under the nose of the Railway officials but no action has been taken against anybody,” Mishra said.
He said the problems of the passengers would only be solved when the DRM would ensure provision of continuous cool water during summer.
