Appoint ADG rank officials in naxal-hit areas: Cong to PC

Raipur, November 15, 2011

To effectively deal naxalism and for better coordination between state and paramilitary forces, the Centre must appoint ADG rank officials in naxal-infested regions of the state. The demand was made by a delegation of Congress leaders led by PCC president Nandkumar Patel to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram at Mana airport while he was leaving for Mumbai after holding important talks with Chief Minister Raman Singh and government officials regarding naxal problem on Tuesday.
The delegation said the ADG rank officials should be appointed worst-affected areas like Jagdalpur, Kanker, Narayanpur, Bijapur, Konta, Sukma, Kondagaon and Dantewada. The delegation also advocated for special training of the forces combating naxals.
“The state government has completely failed to contain naxalism because of its non-functioning intelligence. Even the Central funds meant for naxal-hit districts are being misused by the government,” the delegation charged.
Taking a dig at the CM, the delegation said he had become insensitive towards the problem and was more engrossed in giving unsolicited statements against the Prime Minister.
“The Congress strongly condemns the CM’s statement in which he had said that he would immediately give the responsibility of dealing naxal issue to the PM if the latter would announce any date to solve the problem,” the delegation said.
The delegation also submitted a memorandum containing host of complaints against the government to Chidambaram. The delegation was comprised of legislators Gurmukh Singh Hora and Kuldeep Juneja, DCC Raipur City president Inderchand Dhariwal, PCC spokesperson Amir Ali Farishta, Dr Niranjan Haritwal and Madan Lal Taleda.

PC did not visit Congress Bhawan again

Raipur, November 15, 2011

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram (PC) once again did not visit Congress Bhawan in his brief Raipur tour. In past two years, it was his sixth Chhattisgarh tour but he turned to Congress Bhawan only once. Notably, according to directives of Congress high command, the party’s union ministers should meet workers at state offices during their tours.
