Promises to give Rs 50000 cash to the minister on failure of his operation
Continuing to target Health Minister Amar Agrawal in wake of Balod eye camp incident, the Congress lashed at the minister on Thursday again for stating that he too was suffering from cataract. “The minister’s reckless comment at wrong time indicates his impassivity towards the eye victims. It seems by citing his own problem the minister is indirectly ridiculing the victims,” said the Raipur North Vidhan Sabha legislator Kuldeep Singh Juneja.
“If the minister claims to understand the traumatic condition of the victims, then he must surely undergo cataract operation by the same doctors and medical staff who were part of the eye camp in Balod,” Juneja challenged.
He said even if the minister would become victim of the insensitivity of the doctors, he need not have to worry as the government would certainly give him compensation. “Besides, appreciating his initiative and courage, I too would give him Rs 50000 cash as consolatory fund,” Juneja said.
The other political parties too have objected over the minister’s statement. The state president of Chhatr Sangthan Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (CSLSP) Imran Pasha announced Rs one lakh compensation for minister in case his cataract operation fails in Balod.
“The entire government is indifferent towards the eye camp incident. It is really unfortunate that instead of sacking the Health Minister and cancelling Rajyotsav-2011 in the aftermath of Balod incident, Chief Minister and his cabinet decided to celebrate the state festival like previous years,” said Pasha.
He demanded Rs ten lakh compensation package for the eye victims and government job to at least one family member of each of them. He further urged the CM to sack the guilty doctors and register case against them under section 307 of IPC. He said the properties of the guilty doctors should be attached and sold so that the cash amount could be equally distributed to the eye victims.
