Tiwari likely to face disciplinary action

Raipur, November 18, 2011

PCC’s permanent invitee member Rajendra Tiwari may face disciplinary action for deliberately initiating verbal spat with PCC president Nandkumar Patel, former state unit head Dhanendra Sahu and Congress media cell chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi during the tribute programme organised on the occasion of country’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru’s birth anniversary at Congress Bhawan on November 14.
“It was not expected from the senior leaders like Tiwari during party-organised programme. Instead of setting example before the workers on discipline, he himself looked belligerent and unrestrained during the programme,” said some of the workers on anonymity.
“He did not even spare the PCC chief and interrupted him while he was addressing the partymen. This is grave indiscipline and he may face high command’s wrath on his foolhardiness,” they said.
Notably, the Congress has recently shot notice on PCC executive member Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi for criticising partymen for not attending the tribute programme held at Congress Bhawan to remember first Education Minister of independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on the occasion of his birth anniversary on November 11. Upset by thin attendance, Rizvi went on to ask that – ‘was Azad the leader of only minority community’.
The two back-to-back misconducts by the senior leaders have raised many eyebrows in the party which is planning to give tough challenge to ruling BJP in 2013 Assembly polls on the basis on three factors – discipline, dedication and unity.
According to information, some of the leaders have expressed their concern about rising indiscipline in the party to their seniors at New Delhi. The state unit incharge BK Hariprasada has also reportedly discussed about Rizvi and Tiwari’s episode with Patel at New Delhi on November 17. The party is also likely to serve notice to Tiwari on his indiscipline in coming days.
Patel, on the other hand, has urged the partymen to avoid giving controversial statements in party programmes as well in public.
