BJP alleges irregularities in Gaurav Path II project

Raipur, November 11, 2011

The RMC’s BJP corporators have alleged that there were irregularities in Gaurav Path phase II project from Fafadih to Telghani Naka chowk. In this connection, the BJP corporators led by their leaders Subhash Tiwari on Friday met municipal commissioner Rajesh Sukumar Toppo and asked him to make probe report of the project public.
They said the municipal should have informed the opposition about the probe report which was submitted on November 9.
“It is surprising that the neither the RMC disclosed the name of the probe officer, nor the report. This creates doubt whether the probe was conducted transparently or not,” said Tiwari.
When the BJP corporators persisted, Toppo informed them that the probe was conducted by municipal engineer SK Tiwari and the report would be tabled in the next general body meeting.
The BJPians also attacked the commissioner on water crisis in the wards. Tiwari said that despite winter season the Raipurians had to face water crisis owing to the RMC’s neglectful attitude.
“In many wards, the people are getting water only for 15-20 minutes a day. The condition becomes worse during festivals,” Tiwari said. Some BJP corporators informed that the residents of their areas face water crisis throughout the year. Toppo assured that the problem would be dealt in fifteen days.
The BJP corporators further sought information from the commissioner regarding delay in construction of houses for displaced people of Telibandha under Basic Service to the Urban Poor (BSUP) project launched under Centrally-sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Tiwari said the displaced people, who had been temporarily shifted in Boriyakala, were eagerly waiting for the commencement of the project. “The project is already late by about a year and further delay would only cause more inconvenience to the displaced ones,” Tiwari said. Toppo assured that the house construction would commence in next seven days.
Tiwari warned that the BJP corporators would launch aggressive agitation if the RMC would not solve the problem of water crisis and again delay the house construction works in Telibandha.
