RSU employees complete 8 days of their indefinite strike

Raipur, November 07, 2011

Pt Ravishankar Shukla University’s (RSU) Karmachari Sangh has clearly said that that it would not resume work unless their demands get fulfilled. “We will not buckle down. We have decided to continue our indefinite strike till our voices are heard,” said the sangh president Shravan Singh Thakur. The sangh completed eight days of strike on Monday.
Blaming the varsity administration for not posing seriousness towards their demands, Thakur said, “Our November 3 meeting with the administration in vice chancellor’s office had ended with positive note. We discussed on all of our 16 demands. The administration agreed to consider our 15 demands except the one, i.e. distribution of arrears of sixth pay scale. It was decided in the meeting that the varsity would give us assurance regarding the decision taken in the meeting. However, we have not received any letter from the RSU by far.”
He said the union also wanted to discuss about its demands with Governor and Chancellor of the varsity Shekhar Dutt, Chief Minister Raman Singh and Secretary Higher Education Department but it did not get appointment from any of them. The union has again sought appointment from them and hopes that its request would not be turned down this time, he informed.
Thakur urged the RSU administration again to revoke Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) imposed on the employees and fulfill their demands.
