Congress on Friday paid tribute to the first Education Minister of independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
The party’s minority cell also organised a programme at Congress Bhawan to remember the great leader. In the programme, the former chairman of Madarsa Board Hasan Khan said Azad was great nationalist and his contributions to the country were invaluable.
The chairman of PCC media cell Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said Azad was inspiration source of Indian independence. The PCC executive member Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi termed Azad as real son of the Indian soil while state president of Congress minority cell Haji Sheikh Najimuddin informed workers about the great leader’s life. The programme was attended by majority of minority cell members.
Upset by less attendance of PCC office-bearers, Rizvi said it was surprising that only few partymen attended the tribute programme when the AICC top brasses had clearly instructed that Azad’s birth anniversary should be observed at state and district levels.
The programme was also attended by Govindlal Vora, DCC Raipur City president Inderchand Dhariwal, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Kari Rais Ahmed Asharfi, Javed Hussein and Inna Bhai. The programme was presided over by Haji Shiekh Najimuddin while Rafeeque Bilaspuri presented patriotic songs on the occasion.
