High-level Cong team on two-day Bastar tour from 11th

A high-level four-member Congress team comprising state unit incharge BK Hariprasada, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Charandas Mahant, PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey will tour Bastar division on November 11 and 12. During the tour, the team will attend different party programmes besides convening workers’ meetings. The tour is seen as part of Congress strategy to take on BJP by organising rallies and meetings at district, panchayat and booth levels, a key decision taken during the first meeting of PCC executive on November 4.

Notably, the party leadership has clearly announced that Congress will intensify its activities in the state considering Vidhan Sabha election in 2013. The party has already organised three divisional level rallies against the BJP government in the recent past. Patel says that now the party workers will not only raise all the major issues but would also concentrate on local issues.

In this connection, the high-level Congress team decided to first tour Bastar division to collect evidences from the local partymen regarding corruption in 16 Centrally-sponsored schemes including MNREGA and PMGSY as well as state projects.

The team will tour Kanker, Jagdalpur, Dantewada and Kondagaon. According to information, Hariprasada will reach state capital from New Delhi through regular flight at 6:10 pm. He will be welcomed by the three other members of the touring team –Mahant, Patel and Choubey at Mana Airport. The four will then proceed to Kanker where they will meet workers in the local rest house at 8 pm. Thereafter, the team will reach Jagdalpur at 11:30 pm.

On November 11, the team will leave for Dantewada to attend district-level workers’ meeting scheduled to start at 10:30 am. The office-bearers and workers of Dantewada, Bijapur and Sukma would participate in the meeting. The team will interact with media persons at 1 pm. The four leaders will return to Jagdalpur to attend district-level workers’ at 3 pm. At 5:30 pm, they will address media.

On November 12, the four will attend district-level workers’ meeting at Kondagaon. At 2 pm, they will participate in the Kanker district workers’ meeting. They will also talk to media persons at 3:30 pm before returning to Raipur in the evening. Hariprasada will return to New Delhi on the same day at 7:50 pm.
