Cong to observe Indira Jayanti today


Raipur, November 18, 2011

The Congress will pay tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the occasion of her birth anniversary on Saturday. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel has appealed to the partymen to observe Indira Jayanti without pomp and show. He has asked the party’s frontal organisations including Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC), Youth Congress (YC), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) and Seva Dal to organise programmes related to poor and need on Indira Jayanti.
Patel has further asked all the general secretaries who are also the Lok Sabha incharges to convene meetings of the workers of their respective assigned areas and ensure success of Indira Jayanti programmes.
The PCC spokesperson Mahendra Chhabra informed that the partymen would garland the image of Indira at Congress Bhawan at 10 am and then participate in all-religion prayer.
On the occasion of Indira Jayanti, the PMC will organise its state-level conference at Congress Bhawan. The PMC incharge and organisation’s national general secretary Asima Mahananda will also attend the conference.
