Give Rs 5000 per acre compensation to soya producers: Choubey

Raipur, November 14, 2011

Leader of the opposition at Vidhan Sabha Ravindra Choubey has demanded from Chief Minister Raman Singh to give Rs 5000 per acre compensation to soya producing farmers.
Choubey, in his letter to the CM on Monday, pointed out that the soya producers incurred huge loss due to heavy showers and the total crop production in the current year was merely around 20 percent.
The farmers are indebted, but the government has not taken any initiative to compensation their financial loss, Choubey said.
He said the government should quickly assess the loss incurred by the soya farmers and provide at least Rs 5000 per acre compensation to them.
