The indefinite strike of Pt Ravishankar Shukla University’s (RSU) Karmachari Sangh continued on the second consecutive day on Wednesday. The employees sloganeered against the varsity administration the entire day and sough fulfillment of its demands. Notably, the union is on phased strike since October 11, 2011.
“We had given one-week time to the RSU administration to consider our demands, but it kept its eyes closed,” said the sangh president Shravan Singh Thakur.
“We had sought appointment from Governor and Chancellor of the varsity Shekhar Dutt, Chief Minister Raman Singh and Secretary Higher Education Department to make them aware about our current status but we did not response from the government,” Thakur said.
He informed that the union had started strike back in 2009 but when the varsity gave written assurance to consider its demands, the employees resumed work. “In 2010, we went on strike again. This time, the RSU convinced us by assuring that it would table our demands before the executive council (EC). Although it never happened as the EC rather constituted a committee to look into our matter,” Thakur added.
The union urged the government to intervene and take decision considering their genuine demands.
