State BJP ministers insensitive, irresponsible: Congress

Raipur, November 22, 2011

The Congress has said that the state BJP ministers had become insensitive towards public problems and were shirking from their responsibility. “Chief Minister Raman Singh deserves blame for the indifferent attitude of his ministers. In fact, Singh is the leader of the most incompetent and corrupt government of the country,” said former PCC president Dhanendra Sahu, PCC vice presidents Baijnath Chandrakar, Pushpa Devi Singh, general secretaries Arun Vora, Subhash Sharma and party spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla on Tuesday.
They said the Health Minister Amar Agrawal never visited Balod, Rajnandgaon and Kawardha where over 100 patients lost their eyesight and about eight died after undergoing cataract operations in eye camps organised by his department.
“Instead, Agrawal ridiculed the eye victims at different instances by giving reckless statements,” they said.
They further targeted Forest Minister Vikram Usendi for the not visiting the areas where wild animals including tigers were being killed. “A watchmen of the Forest department killed a tigress in the jungles of Kerapani near Jamunapali (Kawardha district). Earlier, another tigress was killed in Bakhrutola (Rajnandgaon district) due to neglectful attitude of the Forest department. A leopard was killed in Amania forests under Pandaria (Kawardha) in the recent past. Similarly, hunters killed two panthers in Pandaria last year. Still, Usendi did not have time to take stock of the situation in any of these areas,” said the Congress leaders.
They also flayed Agriculture Chandrashekhar Sahu for not visiting draught-hit areas of Bastar. “Entire Bastar division has received scarce rains this time. The farmers and labourers have no means of subsistence. For the first time, a large population of Bastar has migrated to other states in search of job. However, Sahu has kept his eyes closed towards the problems of Bastarians,” they said.
Taking a dig at Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar, the Congress leaders said minister avoids going to the Maoist-hit areas despite series of naxal violence in Bastar division. “Kanwar has completely failed to contain naxals and is also responsible for rising crime in the state. However, he never poses seriousness towards these problems,” they alleged.
