Mahila Congress to constitute booth-level teams

Raipur, November 18, 2011

The Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) will soon constitute booth-level teams of party members to expedite its activities, expose BJP government’s corrupt face and inform people about UPA government’s achievements. The information was given by PMC incharge and All India Mahila Congress general secretary Asima Mahananda while she was interacting with the media persons at Congress Bhawan during her maiden state visit on Friday.
She said the booth-level teams would comprise of at least five and maximum of 25 PMC members. The teams will not only ensure PMC’s extended presence, but will also help the party in achieving its goal to win 2013 Vidhan Sabha elections, she added.
Mahananda, who hails from Orissa, said she was looking forward to work extensively in Chhattisgarh. She said she would soon tour every district and meet PMC workers at block level to encourage them to continuously raise issues against the BJP government.
She said the Congress had taken several steps to empower its female members. “The representation of women leaders at different levels of party and 50 percent women reservation at gram panchayat level proves that the Congress believes in providing equal opportunities to its members,” she said.
She pointed that the non-Congress governments in states were not implementing Central scheme meant for poor - lease for residential purpose. “BJP is anti-poor. In Chhattisgarh too, the government has not distributed lease to the poor for residential purpose. We will raise this issue prominently in coming days,” she said.
