Chabilal suicide: Cong asks Agri Minster to resign

Raipur, July 31, 2012

Congress has asked Agriculture Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu to tender resignation after High Court directed for judicial probe against him into Chabilal Sahu suicide case.
“Chabilal had written in his suicide note that the minister tortured him and consequently he was compelled to end his life,” pointed senior Congress leader Satyanarayan Sharma, general secretary Ramesh Warlyani and spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda on Tuesday.
“Chabilal was an employee at Nayapara Krishi Upaj Mandi when the minister was Mandi president. Chabilal hailed from the minister’s homevillage Manikchouri. The minister had openly thrashed Chabilal in front of the villagers and threatened him. Feeling insulted, Chabilal ended his life on July 2, 2009,” they informed.
“Unfortunately, Chabilal’s wife did not get justice from Governor, Chief Minister, Home Minister and IG. Eventually, she decided to file petition against the minister in the HC which ordered for judicial probe into the matter,” they added.
