Hiked power tariff, faulty bills irk consumers: Cong

Raipur, August 01, 2012

Congress on Wednesday said that the people of Chhattisgarh were severely upset with hiked power tariff and faulty power bills. “The BJP government will face the consequence of its anti-people decision in 2013 polls,” said Congress spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda.
He alleged that the power companies are spending hefty funds on pretext of maintenance while the government is denting pockets of common people by imposing increased power tariff to compensation losses of power companies.
“The people living in both urban and rural areas are irked with frequent power cuts. The spot billing system has failed as consumers complain of inordinate bills. When consumers seek correction of their faulty power bills in electricity offices, they are asked to pay the bill or to face power line disconnection,” he said.
He warned the government of launching aggressive movement against it if it would not revoke hiked power tariff and refrain from addressing grievances of consumers.
Notably, the Congress has announced to launch statewide movement against power tariff hike and other public-related issues from August 9-20.
