Orchha incident: Cong probe panel submits report


Raipur, August 13, 2012

The five-member Congress committee, which probed August 1 Orchha (Narayanpur district) incident, has submitted its report to state unit chief Nandkumar Patel.
In the report, the probe panel has held police administration and security forces responsible for the incident, informed chief Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi. According to report the cops lost their patience and fired indiscriminately on villagers and businessmen.
“The villagers informed the probe team that one minor girl from village Kodoli died during firing while an older from village Murumbada is missing from the incidental day,” Trivedi said.
The probe team has recommended from the party to demand judicial probe into the matter from the government to elicit facts. It further said that the criminal case should be lodged against the responsible jawans.
The probe panel further recommended the party leadership to seek Governor’s intervention into the matter to prevent reiteration of such incidents in future.
The panel felt said that the government should ensure peace and security of the villagers in wake of Orchha incident and the villagers and businessmen, who incurred loss, should be compensated.
