Chabilal suicide: Cong demands sacking of Agri Min

Submits memo to Guv with 4-point demand

Raipur, August 04, 2012

Congress has demanded from Governor Shekhar Dutt to sack Agriculture Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu after High Court directed for judicial probe against him into Chabilal Sahu suicide case. In this connection, a delegation of Congress members submitted a memorandum comprising three other demands to Dutt at Rajbhawan on Saturday.
“Chabilal was an employee at Nayapara Krishi Upaj Mandi when the minister was Mandi president. Chabilal wrote in his suicide note that he was compelled to end his life because the minister tortured him. When his wife did not get justice from the government and police, she went to High Court which directed magisterial inquiry against the minister,” the delegation informed.
The Congress members further demanded judicial probe into police lathicharge on farmers while they were protesting during bhoomipujan by Chief Minister Raman Singh for several constructions works at village Palaud in Naya Raipur on Wednesday.
“The farmers were protesting against forcible acquisition of their lands for Naya Raipur project. Suddenly, the police lathicharged and arrested them on false charges. Many of the farmers got seriously injured in lathicharge,” they said.
They also sought FIR against WRD Minister Ramvichar Netam and department’s Principal Secretary NK Aswal into sub engineer Kishor Sharma suicide case. Besides, they said, stern action should be taken against the two guilty officials of for harassing Sharma.
“Sharma wrote in his suicide note that the government didn’t heed him when he tried to expose Parsada Sunder Kera drain project. He also held the two officials responsible for his suicidal move,” they pointed.
They further requested Governor to decline Chhattisgarh Cooperative Society (Amendment) Bill 2012 which was passed during monsoon session of state Assembly on July 18, 2012.
The bill was tabled to amend the state Cooperative Act on the basis of 97th amendment done in Constitution of India and recommendations of Vaidyanathan committee.
They said the Bill was not in its original form and many of its clauses were against Constitution and hence it should be rejected.
