Damaged roads: YC burns PWD Minister’s effigy


Raipur, August 25, 2012

Holding PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal responsible for damaged roads of state the members of Youth Congress (YC) gheraoed burnt his effigy at Budhapara-based dharna spot on Saturday.
“The roads damaged due to use of substandard materials. The PWD officials and the contractors had done grafts worth crores in road construction works. Unfortunately, the minister and the department officials are still on hibernation,” said YC’s Raipur North Assembly area general secretary Dilip Singh Chouhan.
“We had recently gheraoed PWD office in this connection and submitted a memorandum to department’s executive engineer DK Pradhan demanding quick repairing of deteriorated roads of the state. However, the department seems unmoved by our demand as even the capital city’s roads wear the same wretched look,” he said.
He warned of locking PWD headquarters and gheraoing the minister it the road conditions remain unchanged in coming days.
The YC members who accompanied Chouhan were Sheikh Shakeel, Bablu Raza, Azhar Rahman, Wasim Quasif, Bakar Abbas, Mukesh Kurre, Pradeep Yadav, Anil Yadav, Kamlesh Garg, Chandrashekhar Tandon, Sushil Jangde, David Kurre, Satish Banjare, Mohan Bigane, Raja Khan, Raju Markandey, Piyush Borkar, etc.
