Schools and colleges of capital city celebrated Independence Day with fervour on August 15. On the occasion, the students presented varied programmes including attractive march past in their respective institutions.
Some of the academic institutions which celebrated I-Day were –
Shri Balaji Vidya Mandir (SBVM)
The SBVM students presented patriotic songs, skit and various cultural programmes. SBVM management committee president and chief commissioner of state Bharat Scout and Guide G Swamy was the chief guest of the programme.
Swamy said discipline and hard work are two significant factors to achieve any goal. The school principal Frenny Jay Prakash said that social evils still needed to be wiped out from Independent India. She said the responsibility lies on shoulders of younger generation which can bring sea change in the country.
Krishna Public School (KPS)
The highlight of the I-Day celebration in KPS was drama staged by class 10thand 11th students on ‘terrorism, its pain and sufferings of innocent people’. The drama ended with a message to uproot terrorism from the society.
Another special feature of the day was the making of tricolour as a promise flag by the students with the impressions on their palms. Each impression signified a promise by the students to render their best possible services towards the nation and for the welfare of the society.
On the occasion, the KPS director Ashutosh Tripathi urged the students to display their patriotism in deeds, not words. He said the students should take inspiration from the martyrs to serve the nation.
Gyan Ganga Educational Academy (GGEA)
The GGEA students remembered the martyrs of Kargil war on 66th I-Day of the country. The cultural program of the school included attractive dance programme on patriotic songs by students from primary, middle and higher secondary sections.
On the occasion, the school principal Pratima Rajgor asked the students to stick to hard work in the process of rebuilding modern India.
The chief guests of the I-Day celebration were parents of Ayushi Jain (class 12th topper, session 2011-12).
The chairperson of the academy Manju Shandilya, CEO Sachin Shandilya and director Priyanka Shandilya were also present on the occasion.
Delhi Public School (DPC)
Patriotic prose and poetries presented by the students were the highlights of DPS I-Day celebrations. The chief guest of the programme was schools former principal Punita Nehru (presently principal of Satya Sai Girls’ School Indore). The students of Class X introduced special programmes of I-Day with a difference. On the occasion, the DPS principal Raghunath Mukherjee, vice principal Atanu Rath and headmistress R Bhawani were also present.
Green Valley Academy (GVA)
The students of GVA based at Shyam Nagar presented colourful cultural programme on the occasion of I-Day. The academy also organised debate and fancy dress competitions. The I-Day programme concluded with prize distribution.
Salem English School (SES)
The school’s social and cultural club organised I-Day programme that was comprised of various events. The school principal P Nichols hoisted the tricolour. The programme was hosted by Ayesha Tamanna, Ibrahim and Srishti Ganguly.
Garib Nawaz School (GNS)
The GNS based at Nijamuddin chowk Sanjay Nagar celebrated I-Day with attractive presentations by its students. The chief guest of the programme was local corporator Samir Akhtar. On the occasion, the school principal Rubeena Sheikh and large number of students were present.
Saraswati Gyanodaya Vidyamandir (SGV)
The SGV based at Sarona celebrated I-Day with flag hoisting followed by cultural programmes. On the occasion, SGV director Jasbeer Komal was also present.
Maharaja Agrasen International College (MAIC)
The I-Day programme in MAIC commenced with garlanding of images of martyrs of the country. The chief guest of the programme Jagdish Prasad Agrawal said the young generation should contribute in progress of the nation. The MAIC chairman Rajesh Agrawal said future of the country lies in the hands of the students and they should realise their social responsibilities.
Pt Harishankar Shukla Memorial College
The students of the institute presented I-Day events enthusiastically on August 15. Attractive cultural programmes were organised after flag hoisting was done by college chairman Sushil Shukla and vice chairman MM Tiwari. On the occasion, college principal Dr Mamta Sharma and director of Pt Harishankar Shukla English Medium School LD Dubey were also present.
Radiant Public School (RPS)
Various events including competitions like debate, speech, group and solo patriotic songs, dance, etc were highlights of I-Day celebrations in RPS. The chief guest of the programme was MD of Lifeworth Hospital Dr Jawahar Agrawal who appreciated annual results as well as curricular activities of the school.
