Cong alleges of partiality in Naya Raipur land acquisition

Raipur, August 03, 2012

Congress has alleged that the government adopted partiality in acquiring lands to develop Naya Raipur. “The government acquired lands of only small farmers and deliberately ignored the lands of BJPians and influential people,” charged PCC spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“Unfortunately, these poor farmers were compelled to sell their lands at very low rates. Many of them have not yet received compensation from the government against their lands. The ruling party is has not even made framed a proper rehabilitation policy for these displaced farmers,” said Shukla.
“When these farmers tried to peacefully put their grievances before bhoomipujan of several constructions works at Naya Raipur by Chief Minister Raman Singh, the police not only beat them barbarically but also booked them under various sections of IPC on false charges. The government did not even allow the farmers to have their say democratically,” he added.
“The government does not want to heed problems of common people. A couple of months back, the police had lathicharged peaceful rally of the tribal community in capital city. Similarly, when farmers protested forcible acquisition of their lands for Lanco project in Janjgir, the police suppressed their voices by lathicharging on them relentlessly,” he said.
“The government continues to exploit farmers on the name of urbanisation industrialisation but the Congress would not keep quiet and keep on struggling for their right,” he added.
