Cong asks five questions on electricity issue

Raipur, August 09, 2012
Congress has asked five questions from BJP on electricity issue and said the ruling party should also clarify the reasons behind inordinate power bills despite the claims of its government that the state has surplus power.
“Chief Minister Raman Singh has kept the Energy department for over eight years but the power tariff has been hikes, power bills are irregular and frequent power cuts have become major problem in both urban rural areas. In this backdrop, how will the BJP seek votes from public in next Assembly polls,” asked Congress spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda.
The five questions put by him are – why undue hike in power tariff, why undeclared power cuts in surplus power state, who is responsible for wrong meter readings, what is the reason for sudden spate of wrong power bills and why the BJP not giving free electricity to the farmers when it had promised in its election manifesto during 2008 Assembly elections?
