Road deterioration: YC gheraoes RMC commissioner

Raipur, August 13, 2012

The members of Youth Congress (YC) on Monday gheraoed RMC commissioner Taran Prakash Sinha alleging that the roads in city deteriorated during rains due to poor quality of construction. In this connection, the YC members also submitted a memorandum to Sinha demanding quick repairing of roads.
“The rains have once again exposed the municipal’s works. Even the newly constructed roads have deteriorated in rains. Potholes can be seen in almost all the city roads. Commuters are facing inconvenience due to bad roads but the municipal has not yet taken any step to repair roads,” said YC’s Raipur North general secretary Dilip Singh Chouhan.
“The corrupt officials and contractors are responsible for construction of poor quality of roads. Hence, the roads deteriorate even in light showers and become dusty after rains,” he said.
He demanded from the municipal commissioner to blacklist the contractors who did not maintain given norms to construct roads and to repair all the deteriorated roads quickly.
“If our demands would not be met we will throw all the dust of deteriorated roads in the residence of Urban Administration Minister Amar Agrawal and burn the effigy of Chief Minister before his residence,” he said.
On the occasion, Chouhan was accompanied by Sheikh Shakeel, Mohammad Azhar, Bablu Raza, Shahrukh, Azhar Rahman, Mukesh Kurre, Pradeep Yadav, Anil Yadav, Wasim Quasif, Rakesh Verma, etc.
