Bank scam: Cong says CM, ministers claiming innocence thru accused

Raipur, August 06, 2013

In wake of Indira Priyadarshini Bank manager Umesh Sinha’s recent statement that he did not give kickbacks to chief minister Raman Singh and four ministers to cover the embezzlement case, Congress on Tuesday said the CM and ministers were claiming innocence through accused.

“It is an irony that the police have produced key accused as independent evidence in this matter. The government should explain why it needed certificate of innocence for CM and minister from the accused,” said RMC mayor Kiranmayi Nayak, senior Congress leader Satyanarayan Sharma and PCC general secretary Ramesh Warlyani while talking to media persons at Congress Bhawan.

“First chairperson of banks board of directors Rita Tiwari came into government’s defence and now it was Sinha’s turn. The government is taking help of the accused one-by-one,” they pointed.

They said surprisingly the police recorded Sinha’s statement when the case is sub-judice. They challenged the government to show courage and submit the CD of Sinha’s narco test to the court.

They further asked the government tell the public where was Sinha hiding by far and why did he appear suddenly.
