BJP govt knew about Maoists’ attack on parivartan yatra: Cong

Raipur, August 05, 2013

Disclosing a letter sent to top police officials regarding movement of Maoists at Jiram valley in Darbha region before May 25, 2013 – the day when extremists killed about 30 Congress leaders, the principal opposition on Monday alleged that the BJP government was well aware of attack on parivartan yatra convoy.

“The letter confirms that despite prior having knowledge of naxal attack on yatra convoy the ruling party ignored security of the Congress leaders,” said PCC programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel.

“The letter said that about 50-60 Maoists in uniform had raised makeshift camp near village Badhanpal under Tongpal police station (Sukma district). The letter further alerted top cops that the naxals could give shape to a serious incident from NH 30 to Jiram valley near village Pakela,” Baghel informed.

He said disclosure of letter confirmed that Darbha incident was a planned conspiracy and BJP government was involved in it.
