State Congress praised its national president Sonia Gandhi
after Lok Sabha passed food security bill on Tuesday. The PCC president
Charandas Mahant and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said the passage of the bill
indicates commitment of Congress-led UPA government towards common people.
They termed passage of food security bill
as Centre’s significant achievement after it successfully implemented Right to
Education (RTE) and Right to Information (RTI).
They said the UPA government fulfilled the
promise it had made to people during 2009 general elections.
They said implementation of Food Security
Act would address hunger problem of about 67% of the country’s population. Under
the Act, the government will spend Rs 124723 crore and distribute 51.2 MT
foodgrains to beneficiaries, they added.
They informed that the Centre had
developed effective technology to address public grievances pertaining to Food
Security Act.
