Jogi displays strength on pretext of iftar party

Senior Congress MLA Ajit Jogi once again displayed strength to high command on pretext of iftar party that was attended by about 19 legislators at his residence on Tuesday.

Jogi was virtually sidelined by the party after Darbha incident. His opponents lodged several complaints against him to the high command and urged to give him an assignment out of state during upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls.

Unperturbed by the movement against him, Jogi always maintained that he would actively participate in the state elections and he said it again when he was summoned by party supremo Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi recently.

Meanwhile, he hogged the limelight again for holding snack party at his residence during state assembly’s monsoon session. The party continued till late at night on the particular day and several Congress MLAs were present on the occasion.

After his meetings with Gandhis, he put a notice board at the gate of his residence asking the ticket aspirants not to approach him regarding their candidature but to meet PCC chief Charandas Mahant. For state unit, it was an embarrassing situation to deal. At the same time, he praised Rahul Gandhi’s for announcing to adopt Karnataka formula during Chhattisgarh polls and said it would really test calibre of senior leaders who would recommend their candidates as they would have to take guarantee of their victory.

Through iftar party, Jogi tried to convey message to the high command that he had support of winnable candidates and he would strongly recommend their names during candidate selection procedures.

The MLAs who attended iftar party were Amitesh Shukla, Shiv Kumar Daharia, Amarjeet Bhagat, Dharmjeet Singh, Haridas Bhardwaj, Paresh Bagbahra, Agni Chandrakar, Devendra Bahadur Singh, Badruddin Quraishi, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Kuldeep Juneja, Lekhram Sahu, Ambika Markam, Padma Manhar, Hriday Ram Rathiya, Kawasi Lakhma, Mahant Ramsundar Das, Chairtam Sahu and Shivraj Usare.
