Congress on Wednesday hailed Centre’s decision to include four more districts – Sukma, Kondagaon, Balrampur and Gariyaband under its Integrated Action Plan (IAP). The IPA districts in state have increased from 10 to 14 with inclusion of four new districts.
PCC president Charandas Mahant has received a letter in this regard from union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh who wrote that the Centre’s empower committee (EC) approved new proposals under Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in Chhattisgarh.
The party said the UPA government proved once again that it was committed for state’s development despite irregularities being found in implementation of Central schemes.
In his letter, Ramesh further informed that the EC approved construction of 132 roads with total length of over 829 km in eight districts of Chhattisgarh under PMGSY. These roads will be built at the cost of Rs 184 crore. Besides, bridges with total length of over 113 km will be constructed at the rate of 226.44 crore in state.
The districts where roads and bridges will be constructed under PMGSY are – Bilaspur, Mungeli, Durg, Bemetara, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur, Korba, Mahasamund Raigarh, Raipur, Balodabazar, Gariyaband, Bastar, Kanker, Kawardha, Koria, Rajnandgaon and Sarguja.
