Govt adopting double standard in CSS: Cong

Raipur, August 28, 2013

Congress has alleged that the government was adopting double standard in cash subsidy scheme (CSS).

“The ruling BJP has always opposed Centre’s CSS which directly benefits the beneficiaries. Ironically, the school education department did not hesitate in transferring cash in the bank accounts of those beneficiaries whom it was supposed to provide bicycles under Saraswati Cycle Yojna (SCY). Certainly, this happened because there was standoff between two powerful persons in government over division of graft fund under SCY,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla on Wednesday.

He charged that the government was implementing CSS in those schemes in which likeliness of corruption is cipher while opposing cash transfer in those in which there are more chances of graft due to ample fund and large number of beneficiaries.

He pointed that the government was refraining from implementing CSS in public distribution system (PDS) due to large-scale corruption in it.
