Sai’s remark exposed infighting in BJP: Cong

Raipur, August 07, 2013

Congress on Wednesday said senior BJP MP Nandkumar Sai’s remark regarding next chief minister from BJP after polls had exposed infighting in the ruling party.

“The BJP’s Raipur parliamentarian Ramesh Bais and senior tribal minister Ramvichar Netam too have supported Sai and stated that the party would take decision on next CM after polls. The statements of three heavyweights in BJP evidently indicate that the party is polarised before assembly polls,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.

He said Sai, Bais and Netam were top contenders for the post of CM when the BJP won Vidhan Sabha elections in 2003 and 2008.

“In fact, there are many other CM aspirants in the BJP including Dilip Singh Judeo, Karuna Shukla, Brijmohan Agrawal and Saroj Pandey, although none had claimed their candidature before the party leadership by far,” he added.

“However, this time too the dreams of CM aspirants in BJP will remain unfulfilled as people of Chhattisgarh have made its mindset to dethrone the ruling party due to its bad governance and corruption,” he said.

“In its two terms, the BJP government sold water, lands and forests of Chhattisgarh to outsiders. It forcibly acquired farmers’ lands and gave to industrialists. It also hiked power tariff by 100% and refused to give five year-paddy bonus to farmers. Besides, it is responsible for increasing naxalism and prevailing lawlessness in state,” he said.

He also lashed at the incumbent government for claiming to have done development in state and said it rather misused public fund. “The range of development could not surpass beyond a couple of BJP leaders in last eight years and the common people simply faced fear, hunger and exploitation. This is bad omen for the ruling party and it will surely lose in VS polls,” he said.
