In protest against women harassment cases, Pradesh Mahila
Congress (PMC) had decided to gherao chief minister’s residence on Friday. “The
state government has completely failed to check women abuse cases that have
increased to manifold in last nine and a half years. Hence, we have decided to
gherao CM house,” said Chhattisgarh Mahila Congress incharge Deepti Choudhary and
PMC president Ambika Markam while talking to scribes at Congress Bhawan on
Thursday.
The duo informed that organisation’s
national president Anita Verma will also participate in CM house-gherao
programme.
They alleged that government had ignored women’s
security, especially in remote tribal belts.
“The law and order in the state is in
haywire. Women are not safe under BJP regime. It is unfortunate that despite a
slew of women abuse cases in the recent past, neither Chhattisgarh human rights
commission nor scheduled tribe commission took cognisance in the matters,” the
duo said.
