Rice bowl becomes beggar’s bowl: Mahant

Raipur, August 16, 2013

PCC president Charandas Mahant says Chhattisgarh – which was once known as rice bowl of the country, has now become beggar’s bowl under BJP’s regime. Mahant uttered these words while addressing Congress workers after hoisting tricolour at Congress Bhawan on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15.

Ridiculing government’s scheme of providing rice at low rate to BPL families, Mahant said people of Chhattisgarh believe in obtaining things by doing hard work, not gratis.
He said the corrupt and tyrant government sold lands, forests and water to outsiders. He said it was government’s fault that led to naxal attack on Congress parivartan yatra convoy on May 25, 2013 in Jiram valley in Darbha region.

He said sacrifice of deceased Congress leaders including Nandkumar Patel, Vidya Charan Shukla, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudliyar and others would not go waste and pledged to bring change in state by defeating ruling BJP in upcoming assembly elections.

The flag hoisting programme was attended by Dhanendra Sahu, Kuldeep Juneja, Satyanarayan Sharma, Subash Sharma, Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi, Vikas Upadhyay, Pankaj Sharma, Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Mahendra ChhabdaMA Iqbal and large number of Congress workers.
