The state Congress on Friday defended party’s national general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that came in the aftermath of Mumbai’s serial blasts. The senior party leader and legislator Ajit Jogi said Gandhi had given statement in his full compos mentis and there was nothing wrong in it. “Gandhi is a mature politician and the Opposition is simply trying to twist his statements,” Jogi said.
Notably, Gandhi had stated on Thursday that it was not possible to stop every single terror attack. He had, however, added that the country had succeeded in preventing 99 percent of terror attacks after improving its intelligence. Piqued by Gandhi’s comments, the Opposition severely criticised him for showing recklessness before media and said it would only demoralise the countrymen.
Jogi said there was no point on launching tirade against Gandhi as he had used apt words to express his feelings after the serial bomb blasts. “Gandhi’s father Rajiv and grandmother Indira were victimised by terrorists. So, it is unfair to term hi careless and irresponsible person,” Jogi said.
