Cong welcomes Mahant, displays strength again

NGO supplying sub-standard meals to students: NSUI
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has alleged that a non governmental organisation (NGO) Pahal was supplying sub-standard meals to students under mid-day meal programme in the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) schools. In this regard, a delegation of NSUI members led by their state president Sanjeev Shukla submitted a memorandum to municipal Commissioner Rajesh Sukumar Toppo with their ten-point demands on Monday.
The delegation warned that the NSUI would launch agitation in phased manner if Toppo would not take action against the NGO for supplying sub-standard meals.
“Neither the quality of the meals is according to the norms nor is the NGO giving essential food stuffs mandatory in the menu to the children,” said Shukla.
Among the ten-point demands of the NSUI, the prominent ones are– arrangement of meals should be done by the school principal, proper sitting arrangement for students when they take meals, establish complaint and suggestion centre in schools, meals should be prepared considering norms and must be nutritious, the attendance of the students should be sent to district education officer (DEO) on daily basis, etc.
On the occasion, Shukla was accompanied by NSUI Raipur district general secretary Pradeep Sahu, Ravi Sen, Ajay Pal, Tarun Soni, Mahesh Yadav, Sandeep Thakur, etc.
