The government will organise Netra Jyoti Mela in all the 146 development blocks of the state in coming days. In this connection, the Health and Family Welfare Minister Amar Agrawal has given necessary instructions to the officials on Monday. Agrawal informed that besides conducting operations of cataract patients, the eye specialists would also test symptoms of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy in patients. Agrawal said the patients of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy were rising in the state and hence the government had decided to quickly identify such people and provide instant treatment. The Health department has started preparing for Netra Jyoti Mela. Director Health Services Dr Kamalpreet Singh too has sent a circular in this connection to all the chief medical and health officials.
