State-level exhibition under INSPIRE Award from Jul 16




To encourage students to select science stream, a four–day state-level exhibition on the subject will commence under INSPIRE (Innovation in science pursuit for inspired research) award at Shankar Nagar-based District Institute for Education & Training (DIET) premises from July 16. The exhibition will be in two phases –July 16 & 17 and July 1 & 20. To make the exhibition successful, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Anil Rai, director State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The officials of School Education Department informed that the INSPIRE awards were constituted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India to attract students towards science and unfold the creativity and research skills among the student community.
Under the scheme, DST provides a sum of Rs 5000 to two regular students having an interest in science (one from Class VI-VIII and the other from classes IX-XII) from each school of the State, for preparing a science model or project and representing their school at the district-level science exhibition.
The students, who perform well at district-level science exhibitions, get opportunity to participate at the state-level science exhibition. Those selected at the state-level event will represent Chhattisgarh at a national level science exhibition which will be organised at New Delhi from August 14-16.
Two students of each school including aided schools, unaided schools, public schools, Navodaya Vidyalayas and government schools will be benefited under the Inspire award scheme in the state, they said.
In previous academic session, 20933 students of the state received Rs 5000 each to prepare science models which were exhibited during district-level events held recently. For state-level science exhibition, about 1528 models would be selected from 20933, the officials said.
The officials informed that the DST issues commendation certificates to the selected INSPIRE awardees / Scholarship holders of district / state / national level exhibitions and the teachers who guide them for the preparation of projects. The entire cost of organising exhibitions at district and state-level is being borne by the DST, they added.
