With an objective to create job opportunities for unemployed youth of the state by imparting then technical training, the government has opened 40 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with 12240 additional seats in past six years. The Manpower Planning Minister Hemchand Yadav on Friday informed that currently the total number of ITIs in the state is 101 with 18904 seats.
Till 2003, the state had only 61 ITIs with 6664 seats and the number of such institutes increased only when BJP came in power, the minister said.
In 2005, the Manpower Planning Department opened seven ITIs, in 2006 – 12, 2007 – eight, 2008 – one, 2009 – two and 2010 – ten.
The ITIs opened in different districts in past six years were – Bilaspur – Bilha, Khamharia, Patharia, Takhatpur, Masturi and Mungeli, Sarguja – Premnagar, Surajpur, Samri, Wadrufnagar and Ramanujganj, Raigarh – Pusour, Tamnar, Lailunga and Tapkara, Kanker (North Bastar) – Kanker, Bhanupratappur, Antagarh and Charama, Janjgir-Champa – Kharoud and Akaltara, Jagdalpur (Bastar) – Kondagaon, Vishrampuri and Lohandiguda, Raipur –Tilda, Dharsiva, Bhatapara, Abhanpur and Bhatgaon, Durg – Patan, Dhamtari – Magarload, Kabirdham – Kawardha, Korba – Kartala, Koria – Manendragarh, Jashpur – Kunkuri and Bagicha, Dantewada – Sukma, Bijapur – Bijapur, Mahasamund – Bagbahra and Rajnandgaon – Chuikhadan.
Yadav further informed that the government would open seven more ITIs in naxal-infested tribal regions for which a provision of Rs 17.40 crore had been made in the current financial year. The proposed seven ITIs would be opened in districts - Rajnandgaon – Manpur, Jagdalpur (Bastar) Bhanpuri and Makdi, Jashpur – Ara, Sarguja – Chendra and Durg – Gunderdehi and Dhamdha.
