Average water accumulation in reservoirs reaches to 40 percent

The average accumulation of water in all the reservoirs across the state has reached to 40 percent owing to good rainfall in the past two days. The officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) informed that Shyam (Ghunghutta) reservoir in Sarguja district has filled completely. The water accumulated in the reservoirs of other parts of the state is – Sutiyapat reservoir – 90%, Kosarteda reservoir – 58%, Jhumka – 55%, Maniyari reservoir – 52%, Beharkhar reservoir – 52%, Minimata Bango dam – 51%, Mongra Barrage – 50%, Gondli reservoir – 50%, Tandula reservoir – 48%, Kharang reservoir – 45%, Barnai reservoir – 44%, Kshirpani reservoir – 42% and Saroda reservoir – 40%.
Similarly, the water level in Kharkhara reservoir has reached to 39%, Dudhava reservoir – 38%, Gej reservoir – 36%, Khapri reservoir – 33%, Maroda reservoir – 32% and Sikasar reservoir – 31%.
Notably, there are 41 main irrigation reservoirs in Chhattisgarh and their total water accumulation capacity is 6401 million cubic meters. Presently, the all the reservoirs have stock of 2569 million cubic meters of water.
