Applications invited for national bravery award 2011




The Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) has invited applications for national bravery award 2011. The objective of the award is to recognise and honour the brave children. Every year, the ICCW confers these awards to children below 6-18 years of age on Republic Day at New Delhi.
The officials of Women and Child Development Department informed that applicants mentioning the incident should have been occurred amid July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. The applicants would also have to send evidential documents along with applications. The officials said that the applications must reach Chhattisgarh Council for Child Welfare Mana by September 15, 2011.
The officials further informed that the selection would be done by the committee constituted by the ICCW. The committee will comprise of representatives from the Secretariats of the President and the Vice-President, various Union ministries as well as the Central Social Welfare Board, police, All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan and leading NGOs such as the National Bal Bhavan, Children's Villages of India, RK Mission and experienced ICCW members.
The final list of award recipients will be announced on November 14 (Children's Day). The awardees will get a medal, certificate and cash as a token of their indispensable courage.
Some of awardees will also receive financial assistance to complete their schooling (under ICCW's sponsorship programme) and professional courses such as medical and engineering (under the Indira Gandhi scholarship scheme). In addition, the ICCW will also provide assistance to some of the bravery award winning children till they complete their graduation.
