Varlyani aims to take NCPSL to new heights

The PCC general secretary and spokesperson Ramesh Varlyani, who recently assumed the office of National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (NCPSL) as vice-chairman at New Delhi, says that he is committed to take the council to new heights. “I have assured Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal who is also the chairman of NCPSL that I will work for the continuous progress of the council,” Varlyani said after attending the first meeting of the re-constituted council on Thursday.
He informed that the meeting under the chairmanship of Sibal agreed in principle to increase the award money for lifetime achievement awards from Rs 50000 to Rs One lakh given to Sindhi writers for their outstanding contribution to Sindhi literature. Similarly, the minister also announced that the award money under literary awards will be increased from Rs 30000 to Rs 50000 given to deserving writers in recognition of their contribution in the field of Sindhi literature.
Notably, the NCPSL has been re-constituted on May 18, 2011 for three years. The objective of the council is to promote, develop and propagate Sindhi language. The council’s role comprises bulk purchase, awards to Sindhi writers, financial assistance to voluntary organisations for promotional activities relating to Sindhi language, financial assistance for publication and Sindhi language learning courses.
